Rep Experience: Being the first Campus Rep at the U of O was great! I learned how to use my classroom knowledge towards my job. I also got to network with a lot of new people including Managers across the country (during the video calls,) and talking with Kaplan instructors when I had opportunities to.
Name: Kevin Sun
Started as: Campus Rep at the University of California, Riverside where he earned a Bachelor’s in Business Marketing
Promoted to: Campus Manager for UC Santa Barbara and California State University, San Luis Obispo
Rep Experience: The relationships and experiences that I learned from the Kaplan Campus Rep position allowed me to grow not only professionally, but individually. I was actually able to use the things I learned in college and implement many of those skills as well as build on them as a Campus Rep. I attribute my move into a full-time position within Kaplan to the opportunities and encouragement from my past and current managers, hard work, persistence, and a constant search for improvement to succeed.
Name: Leah Hein
Started as: Campus Rep at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where she majored in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations as well as History
Promoted to: Campus Manager for University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and Marquette University.
Rep Experience: I loved being a campus rep, being on campus and connecting with the students. The best part of it for me was planning the events, I loved coming up with a new idea, being part of an excited team out on campus and spreading the word of Kaplan. During my time as a campus rep we tried new things, got tons of students engaged and had fun as a team doing it together, which for me made the job the most rewarding! I started taking initiative and making connections – as the eyes and ears for Kaplan on campus. By seeking out and meeting new clubs on campus, I became an essential part of the relationship building process.
Name: Christie McCartney
Started as: Campus Rep at Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor’s in English Literature
Promoted to: Grad Service Specialist for Columbus team
Rep Experience: My Campus Rep story is a little unconventional. Post graduation, I had a desire to work a job that a) required a college degree (why else acquire all the loans, right?) and b) entailed something I believed in. I spent many months vigorously searching for “the” job, when I found that the Columbus Kaplan Team was hiring. I accepted the job as Campus Rep thinking that (Thank God I got a job!) this was my chance to get a foot in the door and work for a company that I could take pride in and that would allow me to work closely to the academic world. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve any of this with Kaplan if I hadn’t taken the opportunity to work as a Campus Rep.
Name: Vladislav Rozhkovskiy
Started as: Campus Rep at the University of Florida where he majored in Finance and minored in Leadership
Promoted to: Campus Manager for Nova Southeastern University, Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Atlantic University.
Rep Experience: My rep experience taught me the value of teamwork and communication among a business unit. Knowing exactly what each person on the team was doing at all times, helped us all get tasks completed efficiently and effectively. This was my first part-time job (out of MANY that I’ve had), that actually developed my creativity and allowed for the active and conscious improvement of my professional skills. It was the first job where I genuinely felt like I was part of a family. The job gave me a chance to learn the business and determine if it was something I wanted to devote myself to.
